We're proud to announce our 22nd Artist in Residence, Kathryn Klemp. Klemp is a contemporary representational oil painter living and working in Hartford, Wisconsin.

Kathryn will be at the Center demonstrating her painting techniques on Sundays: November 3, 10, 17 & 24 from 12 – 4pm, and Thursday: November 14 from 12- 4pm. There is no charge to visit the artist, see her work and talk with her about her creative process.

The artist earned her B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing in 1997 at UW-Milwaukee. She has worked as a mural artist and created a technique which allowed her to paint a bold, patterned style which has become a signature style of her work.

Kathryn has five works included in the State of Wisconsin's Public Art Collection which can be viewed in Madison, Wisconsin. She was also a participant in Grafton’s 2012 “Guitar Outdoor Art Project,” having painted a guitar which hangs on a light post in Paramount Plaza.

Klemp will be teaching a special workshop for adults, entitled “Palette Poppies” on Saturday, November 23 from 1-5 pm. The class emphasizes the subject, while experimenting with palette knives and acrylic paints. The class is being held at the Center and is ideal for all skill levels. Kathryn is a member of the Cedarburg Artists’ Guild and often exhibits in the Guild’s Main Street Gallery located inside the Cedarburg Cultural Center. She enjoys teaching art to homeschool children and also teaches youth and adult classes at the Center.
